Gerek - Restoration Shaman.

Postby Gerek on Tue Apr 05, 2011 11:08 am

Character name:
Gerek

Character class:
Shaman

Character level:
85

Character spec, please explain why you chose this spec:
Restoration.
I always enjoyed healing the most - in my opinion, DPS is dull, and tanking is not as rewarding, so I've always prefered healing.

Which glyphs are you using, and why:
Prime:
1. Earth Shield - Earth Shield is a very powerful tool to stabilise incomming tank (EDIT2: used to say raid, woops :P) damage, this only makes it better
2. Riptide - Very often the spell with most healing done, and a very efficient one!. The most powerful glyph for R-shamans.
3. Water Shield - picked this up mainly to help on initial mana regen, I'll change it to Earthliving Weapon soon.

Major:
1. Chain Heal - Chain Heal has changed a lot since Wrath, from the "only heal needed", to a raid healing spell. As long as you hit at least 4-5 targets, this glyph is very well worth it.
2. Healing Wave - With only few useful Major glyphs, this one is fair decent. Healing Wave is used a lot, and over an entire raid fight this actually heals quite a lot.
3. Healing Stream - Incredibly useful glyph. Healing Stream will have 100 % uptime (as long as there's a pala in the raid for might), and the resistance makes serval fights easier, let alone possible.

What do you think is important for your character to focus on:
I'm not sure what you mean here, so I'm just going to point out the stats - please tell me if I'm wrong ^^
Intellect is the most important stat. In my opinion, spirit's after Int, but not enough to reforge everything. After the mastery buff, mastery and haste are about the same (it's quite hard to tell, since mastery changed value). Crit's after that.

Do you have an offspec, and do you have gear for it:
Yes, elemental.
My restoration gear's fairly decent for elemental as well, but there's a bit too much hit (Read, a lot, since spirit = hit)

Character tradeskill professions and levels:
Leatherworking and Skinning (525 in both)

Can you use vent, do you have a mic:
Yes, can use Vent, and yes, I have a mic.

How long have you been playing, and at 85 (use /played in-game):
I don't have access to my WoW account currently (Sitting at school, with the Authenticator at home).
Some 30 days or so I'd guess? I do have quite some playtime on my priest too (Named Gerek too)
EDIT: Just checked, 47 days on the char

Raid experience
Classic: None
TBC: Very little on a friends char.
WotLK: 11/12 hardmode ICC. Got to Algalon (Though I never killed Yogg-Saron)
Cata: 5/6 BWD, 2/4 BoT (Got Elementium Monstrosity to 4-5'ish %) 0/2 TotFW (Know tactics for the Conclave)

Will you be able to attend the raids (answer yes, no or maybe):
Monday 20.15-23.00: Yes (Mondays may, or may not change after the summerholidays)
Tuesday 20.15-23.00: Yes
Thursday 20.15-23.00: Yes

Make sure to give us an armory link (please log off in your PvE gear):

What sets you aside from other applicants:
My main goal in this game is improving. I do my very best to improve, and be the very best of my game because that's what I enjoy. I theorycraft to learn all that I can.
In addition to that, I know a lot of just about every class, and even if I don't I often read up on it, if there's a question in guildchat.

Previous guild(s):
The Unholy Trinity
Just Because We Can (Another char).
Various non-important guild, for perks.

Reason(s) why you left previous guild(s):
TUT turned out to be a combination of "bads" and non-raiders, no matter how hard they tried to change that.
JBWC disbanded.
The rest; well, it's leveling guilds, and I'm in for the raids ^^

Reasons why you would like to join:
Raiding. I play almost solely to raid, but I'm limited to living at home, and studying. I do enjoy having a good relationship with the people I raid with though.

Were all of the above characters levelled by you from the start?:
Yes. I started leveling him in Vanilla, but didn't play much untill the last month of TBC.

Any alts you would like to join with:
No thank you :)

Are there any people in the guild that you know:
Zóc, the resto druid.

Now Loy, you have to promise to feed him regularly and take him for long walks, even when it rains.
