Thallcorn - Resto Druid

Postby Thallcorn on Tue Oct 26, 2010 11:03 pm

Character name:
Thallcorn

Character class:
Druid

Character level:
80

Character spec, please explain why you chose this spec:
Healing is pretty much the only thing I know. It's not that I am a terribly bad Feral or Balance druid but ever since my old guild took the leap from Karazhan to 25 raids I was forced to change my spec. (As people might know TBC was not that forgiving on bear tanks and tanking beyond Gruul/Magtheridon was not recommended). I've spend my time in TBC healing and after WOTLK hit I continued this tradition. I feel most comfortable healing on my druid because I think it's the best spec for druids and because it is the most innervating (heh pun) healing experience compared to other classes.

Which glyphs are you using, and why:
After my Death Knight levelled to 80 I have pretty much neglected my druid, therefore I still have quite some research to do on post-patch healing. Glyph of Swiftmend is always a winner however! Obviously because with the new workings of Efflorescence.

What do you think is important for your character to focus on:
I think a monkey could gear and spec a character and a good player will still be able to take the upmost out of it. Situational awareness, reflexes and anticipation are by far a characters best friends. Stat wise, haste has never treated me bad and will continue to help the druid fire lightning fast heals.

Do you have an offspec, and do you have gear for it:
I have dual spec, but it is used to test out things/mess around without damaging my main spec.

Character tradeskill professions and levels:
Skinning (450) / Leatherworking (445)

In The Devils Backbone we use Ventrillo. Can you use it, do you have a microphone for speaking:
I can and I and will.

How long have you been playing, and at 80 (use /played in-game):
As I've said in this post my Druid has been a bit neglected. It currently stands at 23 days played at 80.

Raid experience
Classic: None (Deleted account, no way of me -proving- I did anything)
TBC: Karazhan, Zul'Aman, Maghteridon, Gruul, SCC, Parts of TK and MH.
WotLK: On my druid I have accomplished little in ICC. My main Tylos is a 10 Kingslayer and is currently on 11/12 heroic.

Will you be able to attend the raids (answer yes, no or maybe):
Monday 20.15-23.00: Maybe
Tuesday 20.15-23.00: Yes
Thursday 20.15-23.00: Yes

Make sure to give us an armory link (please log off in your PvE gear):
Not much to see as my gear ain't really up to speed. My gear used to be gemmed Spirit/Spellpower. But I must do some research to see if this is still viable.

What sets you aside from other applicants:
I bake a dashing pie.

Previous guild(s):
A LOT, I suggest you check warcrafter. I have been in quite a few guilds. Lots of stories about joining and leaving I shall not bother you with. A few prominent ones were Lords of Smyrna, Everlast, Heroes of Mediocrity (my own guild) & Luctor et Emergo.

Reason(s) why you left previous guild(s):
As stated before various reasons. Friends asking me to join and then left, difficulties with leadership (Jellinator), Quit the game.

Reasons why you would like to join:
Mr. Morten Loyning is a long time friend and he takes every chance he sees to incorporate me into he schemes. When he heard you were looking for the leafy kind of Druid he urged me to apply.

Were all of the above characters levelled by you from the start?:
I did not see a question listing my alts, but yeah I levelled all my characters.

Any alts you would like to join with:
No thanks.

Are there any people in the guild that you know:
Morten the Loyning priest (AKA Sooboor the shitty Death Knight!)

We never had issues having one tank all the way up to Illidan ;). Where there's a will there's a way and all that.

TBH i think Bear tanks were not too bad back in those days, I had alot of fun with it. Still remember 1 Mount Hyjal boss encounter .... Looks at Drexx :p
Ahri's Friend: You coming out tonight?
Ahri: Sorry can't I'm going to a BBQ
Ahri's Friend: Why not come after?
Ahri: Unfortunately I flew out this morning as it's in the UK
Ahri's Friend: You are going to another country just for a BBQ... hmm!

Hmm I can vividly remember Druids lacked a lot of survival cooldowns compared to the other classes, which made it harder for them to tank. On top of that they had real trouble with end game raid bosses due to crushing blows, which COULD 1-shot a Druid. Therefore it was frowned upon to take a tank that could possible drop dead halfway through by a stroke of bad luck. They were good off-tanks though. But we had 4 tanks walking around at that point anyway.

Nice app :)

I do remember Ahri generating tons of threat, but I also remember being afraid to watch at crucial points in a fight when The Big Bad (Illidan, anyone?) suddenly hit past all defenses and left the healy army praying. Not just for a crit heal, but also that the next attack would not obliterate the fuzzy bear before the health bar had come up from 5% to a safe-ish 90 % ;)

Well, Illidan was a boss that basically had a big sign on his head saying "You WILL use a warrior tank in this fight!". Not that Blizzard have ever been biased towards warrior tanks. Neveh!
Players may blunder through dialog with shocking ineptitude, forget the name of the country they are in, or get confused about which side they are on, but once it comes time to roll for initiative they all turn into Sun Tzu.
